Ingredients (approximate, adjust to taste and serving size):
2-4 pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
2-3 apples, , peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 onion, sliced (optional)
3-5 cloves garlic,
1/2 cup apple cider or juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup
1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh herbs like sage or thyme (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pork Chops:
Season the pork chops with salt and pepper.
2. Sear the Pork Chops:
Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Then, remove from the skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté Apples and Onions (Optional):
In the same skillet, add sliced apples and onions (if using) and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add garlic during the last minute.
4. Make the Sauce:
Combine apple cider or juice, brown sugar, soysauce (if using), and apple cider vinegar in the skillet. Bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
5. Combine and Cook:
Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them among the apples. Spoon the sauce over the pork chops. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through
6. Serve:
Garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Serve hot with the apples and sauce spooned over the pork chops.
