Ingredients:
- 1-2 cups cooked rice (day-old rice works best)
- 1/2 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced into small pieces
- 1 small red onion, diced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2-3 tbsp soy sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1-2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for added flavor)
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions or other leafy greens, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Beef: Marinate the beef in a mixture of soy sauce, pepper, and a little cornstarch for at least 15-20 minutes. This helps tenderize the beef and adds flavor.
2. Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat cooking oil in a large wok or pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same pan, add the diced onions, carrots, and celery. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the carrots are slightly tender, about 3-5 minutes. Add the minced garlic during the last minute and stir until fragrant.
4. Add Rice: Add the cooked rice to the pan with the vegetables. Break up any clumps of rice with your spatula. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the rice is heated through and slightly toasted.
5. Combine Everything: Return the cooked beef to the pan with the rice and vegetables. Add soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using). Stir-fry everything together until well combined and the rice is evenly coated with the sauce.
6. Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot.
